Released by Natsume in 1992, Spanky's Quest is one of those Game Boy games that slipped quietly past most players at the time and has been rediscovered ever since. You play as Spanky, a little monkey trapped inside a witch's tower, bouncing a ball off your head and charging it up to unleash fruit projectiles at enemies across single-screen stages. It's charming, inventive, and surprisingly tricky — the kind of arcade-style gem that keeps pulling you back for one more run.

The original, like so many Game Boy titles of its era, was rendered entirely in shades of grey. marc_max changes that with Spanky's Quest DX, a full GBC colorization that finally gives Spanky, the tower floors, and the parade of enemies the vivid palette they always deserved.
