Pokémon Quartz is one of the most infamous and beloved ROM hacks in GBA history — a Ruby hack by BARO set in the Corna Region, replacing every Pokémon in the National Dex with 386 entirely original Fakemon, infamous for their wild designs, questionable translation and chaotic charm. It became a cult classic partly due to its numerous spelling errors, profanity and bizarre storyline leading to hilariously awkward scenes.

Pokémon Quartz Minus, created by Camerupt and released in April 2026, is the definitive way to experience Quartz on real hardware. It features completely redrawn sprites for all 386 Fakemon and most trainers, a full rebalancing of stats and movesets, a reworked national dex to make all 386 Fakemon available through trainers and wild encounters, freshened-up Emerald overworld tilesets, and new bonus events. The original script — typos, Spanglish and all — has been kept intact. The chaos is part of the experience.
