Kanto, 2049. Fifty years have passed since the events of Gold, Silver and Crystal. The region has decayed. The people still living there are not doing well. And the Pokémon that remain are not the ones you remember.

The entire game renders in black and white — a deliberate aesthetic choice that strips all colour from Kanto entirely, matching the decay of the region and giving Ghost Grey a visual identity unlike any other Pokémon hack in existence. Every sprite, every overworld, every battle animation has been redrawn from scratch in monochrome. The effect is striking from the first step outside your house.

Pokémon: Ghost Grey Version is a horror-inspired love letter to the creepypastas and edgy ROM hacks of the late 2000s and early 2010s — a complete FireRed hack by JoeyZeed released on August 21, 2026, built with a scope that few fan games in this genre attempt. Over 200 Ghost Pokémon populate the region, including every existing Ghost-type alongside 120+ original regional variants created specifically for this hack — familiar Kanto Pokémon, warped beyond recognition by whatever catastrophe befell the region.

Seven gyms remain. One is missing. The story will explain what happened, if you can find all the pieces.
